When to actually visit Cabo.

The honest answer isn't "October to May." It depends on what you want — whales, warmth, prices, or no crowds. Here's how to pick.

The Short Answer

Pick by what matters most to you.

Best Overall

February – March

Peak weather, peak whale season, no hurricanes. Priciest, most booked.

Best Value

May & November

Shoulder seasons. Great weather, lower prices, smaller crowds. The "shouldn't-be-a-secret" months.

Cheapest

August – September

Hot, humid, hurricane window. 25–35% off at Terrasol Elite. For deal-hunters and remote workers.

For Whales

January – March

Peak humpback & gray whale season. Daily sightings from oceanfront balconies.

Month by Month

Every month of 2026, in plain English.

January

Highs 75°F · Whales arriving · High season

Cool, dry, sunny. Whale sightings ramp up. Locals call it "the perfect month" — and they're right, if you can pay peak rates. Book 2-3 months out.

February

Highs 78°F · Peak whale season · Peak prices

The single most-booked month. Whales calving in the bay, weather flawless, every restaurant table reserved by 5 PM. If you want February, book by November.

March

Highs 80°F · Spring Break (mid-month) · Whales · High prices

Same weather as February, plus the second half gets Spring Break energy in downtown Cabo (mostly the bar zone, not Terrasol). Whales still very active. Excellent month if you don't mind the crowds in town.

April

Highs 82°F · Whales tapering · Easter peak · High season ends

Still beautiful. Mothers and calves linger before migrating north. Easter week and the week after are very busy with Mexican families on holiday. Otherwise, April is sneaky-great and just slightly cooler in price than peak February.

May

Highs 87°F · Shoulder season · Best value · No hurricanes yet

One of the best-kept secrets of Cabo. Warm but not hot, ocean water bath-warm, prices drop noticeably, restaurants relaxed. No whales, but everything else lines up. If you can't do February, do May.

June

Highs 91°F · Hurricane season starts (low risk) · Hot & humid

Summer arrives. Hot, humid, ocean is the warmest of the year. Hurricane season starts technically, but June risk is very low. Prices are summer-rate. Solid month if you handle heat well and want quieter beaches.

July

Highs 93°F · Mexican holiday peak · Hot

Hot, humid, and surprisingly busy because Mexican families take their summer vacations. American crowds are smaller but Mexican tourism fills the gap. Lower-end US prices, mid-range demand.

August

Highs 95°F · Hurricane risk rising · Lowest prices begin

The cheapest month at Terrasol Elite begins August 1. Hot, very humid, hurricane risk meaningful (though most storms miss Cabo). Best month for travelers who care about price first. Bring sun protection seriously.

September

Highs 94°F · Peak hurricane risk · Cheapest month

Peak hurricane risk and peak heat. Cabo can also be unexpectedly quiet — September is the slowest month for US tourism. If you book here, get travel insurance, monitor the forecast, and you'll likely have a great empty trip for a great price.

October

Highs 89°F · Hurricane risk ends mid-month · Prices climbing

The pivot month. Early October still has hurricane risk; by mid-month the season effectively ends. Weather cools, humidity drops, prices start climbing back up. Late October is a great window.

November

Highs 84°F · Shoulder season · Best value · No crowds

Often the single best value month of the year. Hurricane season over, weather gorgeous, prices not yet at winter peak, and the snowbird crowd hasn't arrived in force. Thanksgiving week is the exception — that week books like Christmas.

December

Highs 78°F · Whales arriving · Christmas peak prices

First 3 weeks of December are an underrated sweet spot — great weather, whales arriving, holiday season starts at Terrasol. Christmas through New Year's is the most expensive week of the year. Book Christmas a year out.
