That $245-$280 in platform fees goes to Airbnb. It does not improve the condo. It does not go to the owner. It pays for the platform to sit in the middle of the transaction.
VRBO Fees: Lower, But Still Real
VRBO takes a smaller cut from travelers than Airbnb does. The VRBO traveler service fee runs 6-12%, as of 2026. On that same $1,750 rental subtotal, that is an extra $105 to $210.
So VRBO is meaningfully cheaper than Airbnb from the traveler's side. But you are still paying a platform fee that does nothing for your actual vacation experience.

Look at the "total before taxes" line. The nightly rate displayed on the listing page is not the fee-inclusive rate. The checkout screen will show a line for the traveler service fee separately.
Search for a direct booking option. Many owners in Cabo have their own booking pages or phone lines. A quick search for the property name plus "book direct" often surfaces the owner's website. If you find one, compare the total with what the platform quoted.
Ask the owner. If you message an owner on a platform and ask whether they have a direct booking option, many will tell you. Platform terms vary on how owners can respond, but it is always worth asking.
